Foolish Wisdom

It is interesting how with some people you can't make a point by telling them straight-out what you mean, you have to claim that it applies to yourself. They'll think about the meaning, and eventually determine that they have some work to do, too. I think it's because nobody really wants to be alone in life, they all want to know that they aren't the only ones who make a particular mistake or whatever. Some people are more prone to admitting mistakes if you give them the opportunity to come to the conclusion themselves, instead of accusing them outright. Granted, they'll need a little nudge in the right direction, but as inconspicuously as possible, please.
Sometimes the things people need to hear the most are the things they are the least likely to listen to. In that sense, it is good to be like the fool in the poem. Sometimes a story from your own life is the best way to get through to someone else's life. Show them they're not alone. Reach out. Share.
